Longs peak is by far the closest fourteener to our house and is the highest point in Boulder County, but Angi and I had yet to successfully climb it.

We chose this weekend since our last two peaks were quite far away from home, and we wanted a short drive. We had planned to do this trip on a weekday to avoid crouds, but the timing did not workout and we headed off on a Saturday. The parking lot was completely full at 4:30am, and I had to park almost a mile down the road.

The climb itself went quite well, and we summited Mt. Meeker, one of Colorado's Highest Hundred at 9am. By noon we were on Longs crouded summit, and four hours later we found ourselves back at the car for grand total of 12 hours of effort. The Loft route with descent of the Keyhole route is a great circumnaviation of this great peak.
