Summer 1999: I went to Japan with the Denver/Takayama Sister Cities Program. It was quite a treat, since I had been taking Japanese for 4 years in high school. I spent some time in Nagoya, then traveled to Takeyama in Gifu prefecture for two weeks. We then took trains, including the Shinkansen (Bullet Train) to Kiyoto.
